Bus Service Back on Track 10:30 am Mar. 31
Sarah Kocsis, Chair of the SunCrestResidents.org Transportation Committee, just let us know that ALL of the regularly scheduled buses will be bringing our children home today, including the am Kindergarten bus. Afternoon Kindergarten buses will be picking up those children as well, and the Jr. High and HS buses will be dropping kids off this afternoon, along with the Ridgeline buses.
So, you can plan on taking your kids to the bus stop for pm Kindergarten and picking them up from the bus stop this afternoon, instead of having to haul down the mountain to get them.
Happy SPRING!

Snow Emergency Update
There will be no bus service to SunCrest or Traverse Ridge due to weather.
SR 92 has been shut down and Highland officers are at the bottom of SunCrest Drive diverting traffic away from the Alpine Hwy.
I spoke to a Draper PD officer who drove SunCrest Drive at 6:45 and said it "was open and okay but to be careful". They were looking for a car that had slid off the road, so please do be extra careful if you drive your kids to school this morning.

Patty Garman
We learned last night at the Town Hall meeting that Patty Garman has the opportunity to move back to Arizona to be closer to her family. We wish her the best and appreciate the structure and order that she has brought to SunCrest in her role with our management company, CCMC.
We are fortunate to have Tod Bean step up and take on Patty's role. Congratulations to Tod, and we look forward to continuing our good working relationship with CCMC in the future.

OA Voting Members
Wednesday night, our management company, CCMC, held a Town Meeting at which candidates running for a position as Voting Member of the OA were able to tell a bit about themselves and why they would like to represent their specific neighborhoods.
Whether or not you were able to attend the meeting, you will have an opportunity to vote for your Voting Member, as Patty Garman will be mailing out the ballots on 3/21. Be looking for them in your mailbox, and make an effort to vote for those who most closely represent your views. Patty indicated that if you would like to contact them directly, she can try to facilitate that for you. Her number is 572-1233.
For those of you running as Voting Members, if you would like to make yourselves available to be contacted, please send Patty an e-mail with your approval for her to give out your e-mail address to concerned residents. pgarman@ccmcnet.com
Ballots will be due back mid-April, giving you plenty of time to make your decision.

Make a difference, get involved! Precinct caucus meeting info!
Each of us in SunCrest has been personally touched by recent legislation regarding school district boundaries and transpotation funds. It is in our best interest to be informed, educated and involved in the process of selecting delegates who will vote on the candidates running for office this year.
Neighborhood Precinct Caucus Meetings, registration 6:30, meetings start at 7:00 PM:
UT County Democratic Mass Meeting-
Tuesday, 3/25 at Alpine City Hall 20 N. Main, Alpine
UT County Republican Caucus-
Tuesday, 3/25 at Timberline Middle School 500 W. Canyon Crest, Alpine
SL County Republican Caucus-
Tuesday 3/25 at Steve and Tamara Nelson’s home 1845 Aspen Leaf Place, Oak Vista in SunCrest
SL County Democratic Mass Meeting-
Tuesday, 3/25 at Summit Academy 1285 E 13200 South, Draper
Why should I attend a party caucus and become a delegate?
By choosing the delegates who will attend county and state conventions, caucus attendees set the stage for all election races. By determining which candidates will represent their parties in the general election, party delegates can have a big influence over public policy.
Consider the following:
Since fewer people participate in caucuses and conventions than in a general election, your vote at these early stages can carry more weight.
A high general participation in party caucuses could mean that mainstream voters are better represented throughout the election process.
"The power of our state comes from people who are concerned about their government... Government is a personal responsibility. You are the greatest safeguard against depersonalized government and the antidote to apathy."
— Governor Jon Huntsman Jr. State of State Address 2008

Neighborhood Representatives
Neighborhood representatives are on the move! If you haven't already been visited, you soon will be. Each neighborhood representative is responsible for approximately 50 homes in their area. These individuals are the voice of their respective neighborhood, gather input from their neighbors and share with SunCrestResidents.org so we know we are accurately representing all of SunCrest’s needs.
Contact info for the neighborhood representatives is

Bus Stop Volunteers Needed!
The Transportation Committee needs help with the efforts to keep order and, more importantly safety, for our children getting on the bus in the morning. Sarah Kocsis has designed a system that really keeps our children safe. Sarah gave fliers to all bus parents, and unfortunately, from the flier she had only one volunteer. She has been great to fill in just about every day. We need two volunteers each day (one for each entrance). Ideally we would like to get 20 volunteers who cover one morning every other week. If you can volunteer on any specific day and/or if you can volunteer for a regular weekly/biweekly schedule, please send the info to Sarah Kocsis at kocsis5@comcast.net as soon as you can.

Accurate Reporting?
An article on SunCrest in the Deseret News yesterday contained some factual errors. Here is the response:
Rebecca,
I read your story online today in the Deseret News at http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695259163,00.html and had just a few corrections:
There is no concern by any owners about retention of our property. Our properties are separate and apart from the assets of SunCrest LLC by virtue of our purchasing our homes from the homebuilders who had purchased the lots from SunCrest LLC.
The clubhouse has already been built, but it probably requires $500K to $1,000,000 to be completed (depending upon who you ask) in order for an occupancy permit to be issued by the city of Draper.
If you would like, I would be more than happy to review any items to be included in articles about SunCrest to help keep the facts accurate. Also, the information provided on www.suncrestresidents.org is fact checked to make sure that accurate information is provided to the residents. Thank you once again and I look forward to speaking with you in the future.

Fantastic News! What HB349 means to you
HB349 Open Enrollment Revisions was passed yesterday at 3:49 by the Senate, just hours before the general legislative session came to a close for this year. Attached to this bill was an amendment, introduced by our Representative Greg Hughes, that states:
"A student who is enrolled in a school that is not the student's school of residence, because school bus service is not provided between the student's neighborhood and school of residence for safety reasons:
(a) shall be allowed to continue to attend the school until the student finishes the highest grade level offered; and
(b) shall be allowed to attend the middle school, junior high school, or high school into which the school's students feed until the student graduates from high school."
In essence, this means that any Salt Lake County student attending Alpine District will be allowed to continue attending Alpine District through graduation from high school.
