Accurate Reporting?

An article on SunCrest in the Deseret News yesterday contained some factual errors. Here is the response:

Rebecca,

I read your story online today in the Deseret News at http://www.deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,695259163,00.html and had just a few corrections:

There is no concern by any owners about retention of our property. Our properties are separate and apart from the assets of SunCrest LLC by virtue of our purchasing our homes from the homebuilders who had purchased the lots from SunCrest LLC.

The clubhouse has already been built, but it probably requires $500K to $1,000,000 to be completed (depending upon who you ask) in order for an occupancy permit to be issued by the city of Draper.

If you would like, I would be more than happy to review any items to be included in articles about SunCrest to help keep the facts accurate. Also, the information provided on www.suncrestresidents.org is fact checked to make sure that accurate information is provided to the residents. Thank you once again and I look forward to speaking with you in the future.

I spoke with my neighbor who works for Deseret News, and he was going to see what he could do about a retraction. He told me that unlike The Tribune, the Deseret News actually looks at each comment to make sure that they are not vulgar or obscene before they are put on the web site. For instance someone can say a comment was stupid, but cannot say that person is stupid. It generally takes two staff members to filter through all of the comments!
I suggested that he invite this reporter to attend one of our meetings to get accurate information.
As far as comments on the Deseret News Website from people who have no clue what they are talking about and/or where we actually are located we should just ignore them - it is not worth your time and energy!!
