Vacation Rentals in SunCrest

Several of you have had occasion to make complaints to the OA about homes in their neighborhood being used as “vacation rentals.” Although home businesses are allowed in SunCrest if they follow certain rigorous guidelines, this does not extend to allowing homes to be used as short-term vacation rentals. SunCrest is and will remain a residential community. Homes must be leased for at least six months (or longer), AND the lease must specify that renters have been provided with a copy of the governing documents AND agree to abide by all rules and by-laws. (See CC&Rs 4.2.32, 4.2.32, 4.3.1, and 4.3.2).

Vacation rentals create increased traffic in a neighborhood, the presence of individuals who are unknown to the other residents and who often are unaware of the rules. On occasion, there can be even more serious problems. If you are aware of homes that are being rented out short-term as a vacation getaway, please let Tod or Mary know by either calling the office at 801-572-1233 or email tbean@ccmcnet.com.

Having empty foreclosures with weeds everywhere is so much preferable to a vacation rental property.

The OA can't do anything about foreclosures, Brad. However, it does follow up with notices, liens, and fines to the banks who take over a property, because they have to follow the rules here, too. I don't think the OA should be faulted for trying to enforce the rules that govern all of us here.
