All you ever wanted to know about snow in SunCrest and then some:

Snow Removal FYI from Mary Chamberlain of CCMC, SunCrest's Management Company:

I’ve had many questions from Residents about snow removal. We will do everything that we can to assist with these matters, but many of these items are not currently regulated under our Governing Documents, in which case we have no authority to enforce these items. I will try to answer as many questions as I can, and provide the responsible party’s contact info.

Parking: No person shall park any vehicle or place any object that interferes with the snow plowing or snow removal efforts on any City street. Overnight parking on the streets is prohibited from Nov. 15th through April 15th from 1:00am to 6:00am. To report this, please contact Draper City Police Dispatch at 801-840-4000

Temporary snow barrier fencing is not allowed. I realize that many of you may see more snow on your property than others due to the wind drifts. If you are experiencing this and you simply don’t know what to do with all of your snow, please contact us. We will work together to come up with a solution for you that meets the guidelines and expectations of this community.

Mail Boxes: The post office is not responsible for snow removal and they will not deliver mail if they can not access your mail box. It is the responsibility of the Home Owner to clear the snow from the mail boxes to ensure proper delivery.

Fire Hydrants: It is the responsibility of the homeowner who has a fire hydrant on his property to keep the hydrant clear of snow at all times.

Sidewalk snow removal: If a Resident has not removed the snow from their sidewalk (they have a 24 hour minimum after the storm to remove) and you would like to register a complaint, please contact Draper City Code Enforcement at 801-576-6331

Pushing snow into the street: I think many Residents are unaware that they should not be pushing any snow into the street, but this is very hazardous. According to the Snow Removal FAQ that I printed from Draper City’s website, it is also illegal. I think Residents assume that the plows will come by and remove that snow from the street, but in many cases, the plows have already been through and may not be back that day. If that’s the case, the small layer of snow can freeze and turn to ice and cause very dangerous conditions. Please be mindful of the potential hazard that you could be creating for yourself or your neighbors.

An officer from Draper City PD contacted me and told me when a Resident witnesses another Resident pushing snow into the street, to contact dispatch immediately at 801-840-4000. They will have an officer come out and pay the home owner a visit. (He said they visited many home owners in Sun Crest this past weekend and gave them some snow removal education.) He said the most important thing is to contact them as this happens, and not to wait until after the fact. I also expressed to him some of the problems that Sun Crest Residents have had with police dispatch, such as: There is no part of Draper City in Utah County, what is Sun Crest-?, there is no ordinance for snow in streets, etc. He said he will personally call dispatch today and make sure they are all educated about Sun Crest.

If you live on a Limited Use Driveway that the OA is responsible for: Please communicate with us immediately if there is a problem with your snow removal so that we can address it with our crew as soon as possible. We will document each issue and make sure the situation is handled appropriately.

Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about snow removal. Thank you!!!

Oh come on SunCrest Homeowners Association!
We now have a wonderful industrial-sized snow thrower that has been removing snow build up from the sides of our already narrow streets in to our yards, sidewalks and today even all over our drive ways. While this machine is a welcome sight, the enormous pile of ice in my driveway this afternoon was anything but. Please talk with the operators and have them be more courteous, I have watched the operators in the past do a great job directing the snow just in residence front yards so I know it’s possible.
Sidewalks and SunCrest in the winter do not mix! Why can’t we acknowledge that and apply for a variance from Draper city code. If this is not possible then I will be removing snow from my sidewalk, but be assured that any snow illegally dumped on my sidewalks by the industrial snow thrower will be the sole responsibility of the operator. Also if this code is to be enforced, then SunCrest owners association had better start clearing the snow from ALL of the public sidewalks in our community, not just the decorative sidewalks around the village green park area.

I 100% agree, That would include developers and their undeveloped lots as well.
